Senator Saxby Chambliss is the senior senator from the state of Georgia. A Republican, he has been in the Senate since 2002, when he defeated Democrat Max Cleland to gain the seat. His short tenure makes Chambliss part of a very young Georgia delegation, his colleague being Johnny Isakson, a fellow Republican, and a former colleague when both were in the House of Representatives, as well.
