Relativism

Relativism is the post-modern idea that there can be no absolutes. In science, relativism is very important, and leads to the conclusions of Albert Einstein concerning the non-relativity of the speed of light, and the relativity of other basic universal constants. Quantum Theory also turns upon scientific relativity.
Like many scientific theories, though, "relativism" has had consequences beyond its intended field. Taking the cue, many 20th century philosophers, and especially liberals, started to expound on a theory of Moral Relativism, where there is no absolute right or wrong. Unfortunately, this moral weakening is dangerous, and teaches, in essence, that nothing is wrong, setting mankind ethically adrift.
