George Gershwin was an important American songwriter of the 1920s and 1930s. He also wrote orchestral music, most notable Rhapsody in Blue and the opera Porgy and Bess.

Famous songs by Gershwin include Summertime, The Man I Love and It Ain't Necessarily So.
