Eowyn is the daughter of King Theoden in The Lord of the Rings. It was she who killed the monster on which the leader of the black riders had flown into battle in front of the besieged city-fortress of Gondor. Her femininity was both a weakness and an advantage in the clash, and she was helped instrumentally by Merry.
