The Baptist Church is a Protestant Christian denomination. Baptists practice adult baptism which is done by immersion. Many Baptists consider the Bible to be inerrant and the literal word of God. They are often opposed to the use of tobacco and alcoholic beverages, although this is not a universal value among Baptists.

The original modern baptists were the German Anabaptists (Wiederteufel) of 16th Century Germany and Bohemia.
