Aspirin originated as a herbal remedy, a bitter powder now called salicin which was extracted from the bark of the willow tree in ancient Greek times. [1] First synthesized as acetylsalicylic acid 127 years ago this wonder drug has been an unmixed blessing to patients all over the world, relieving aches, pains and fever.
