Gene Roddenberry

Gene Roddenberry, (1921 - 1991) was an American screenwriter and producer and is best known as the creator of Star Trek. During World War II Roddenberry served in the US Army Air Force and was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross for his actions flying over Guadalcanal.
He was the chief writer for several TV series before launching Star Trek in 1966.
Roddenberry thought of himself as a humanist. [1] Christian apologist JP Holding said of Roddenberry, "The funny thing is that a humanist like Gene Roddenberry could conceive of beings like the Organians without blinking an eye, but also could reject the supernatural as impossible." [2]
