Echocardiography

Echocardiography is a the ultrasound scan of the heart. Two dimensional pictures of the heart are obtained with the ultrasound machine which can also measure the velocity of blood flow in the heart using doppler principles. Echocardiography can be transthoracic, transesophageal and intracardiac.
