Wing nut

A wing nut helps fasten a bolt. It is similar to a standard machine nut and threaded in the same way, but is equipped with a pair of "wings" that make it possible to grip the nut with the fingers; wing nuts are intended to be tightened with fingers rather than with a wrench.
