Charles-Edouard Jeanneret-Gris (1887-1965), known as Le Corbusier, was a Swiss architect and urban designer noted for his design of churches and for his visionary designs of cities of high-rise towers; he was also responsible for the plan of the new city of Chandigarh in northern India.
