Linoleum

Linoleum is a floor covering, similar to oilcloth, made by applying a mixture of cork, linseed oil and dyestuffs to a woven web. Linoleum (popularly known as 'lino') was first made in Staines, Middlesex; but the main centre of manufacture developed at Kirkcaldy. Lino has largely been superseded by plastic-based floor coverings and by the growing affordability of carpets and laminated floorings.
