Sam Brownback

Template:Stub Sam Brownback (born 1956) is a Republican Senator from Kansas who is running for president and touting himself as the most socially conservative candidate available. He cites former Senator Jesse Helms as a model.[1] Brownback is most well known for his pro-life views and his work on human rights issues.

Senator Brownback has come under fire for supporting the Kennedy-McCain proposal on illegal immigration.

Raised as a Methodist, Brownback later joined a nondenominational evangelical church, and in 2002 he became Catholic.

In December 2005, Brownback advocated using Washington, DC as a "laboratory" for a flat tax.

Brownback was involved in funding allogations concerning his first campaign for the Senate.[2]

The Reverend Rob Schenk of the National Clergy Council has called Brownback the "gold standard" for a viable conservative presidential candidate. [3]
