When a Senator who has been recognized to speak "yields" to another, he or she permits the other to speak while the first Senator retains the floor. Technically, a Senator may yield to another only for a question.[1]

A yield sign is a yellow traffic sign used on American roads to designate right of way. If you see a yield sign, it means that the opposing traffic must yield right of way to you.
