The origin of species is God, who created all forms of life including human beings. Religious people disagree on how long ago the Creation took place, and may broadly be divided into young earth and old earth schools of thought on this point.
Charles Darwin's book, On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, provides an alternative explanation.
