Arthur Conan Doyle

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859 - 1930) Scottish writer who was the creator of the fictitious detective Sherlock Holmes. Doyle's love of Holmes didn't match that of his fans, and at one point Doyle tried to kill Holmes off, only to bring him back under public outcry. In the end, although he tried his hand at other things, Doyle's primary accomplishment in life for which he is known is the Sherlock Holmes character.
