Gimli

Template:Stub Gimli, son of Gloin, is a dwarf in The Lord of the Rings. He joins the Fellowship of the Ring at the Council of Elrond. He left Middle Earth with Legolas in the year 1541 of the Fourth Age.
Films
In Peter Jackson's film adaptations of The Lord of the Rings, Gimli is played by John Rhys-Davies, who was actually the tallest member of the main cast in real life.
