Wikia[1] (formerly Wikicities[2]) is a for-profit venture funded and run by Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales and Wikimedia Foundation board member Angela Beesley.[3] It has raised millions in investments and reportedly enjoys preferential treatment by Wikipedia.[4]
