A seal is a marine animal that lives on land and in water. Although generally viewed as kind or fun creatures, seals in reality can be quite vicious. Despite having smooth skin, scientists classify them as being mammals. Seals are distingushed from sealions because they have flippers instead of back feet, and ears.
In legal terminology, to seal is to mark a document with a seal; to authenticate or make binding by affixing a seal. As a noun in legal terminology, a seal is a court seal or a corporate seal.
Also, a SEAL team is a U.S. Navy Commando group.
