Loyalty is the quality by which a person feels a sense of allegiance and devotion to another person, state or ideology. It usually requires the loyalist (person feeling the emotion) to place the cause above other factors or situations in his or her life. For example, soldiers who feel loyalty to their country may be willing to sacrifice their lives in order for their country to win a war, placing their devotion over the desire for life.
