Hosni Mubarek

Muhammad Hosni Sayed Mubarak (born May 4, 1928) is the president of Egypt. Joining the military upon completion of high school, he rose through the ranks, and was eventually appointed to positions under the rule of Anwar Sadat. Mubarak became one of Sadat's closest advisers, and was appointed vice-president in 1975. Mubarak became President on October 13, 1981, one week after Sadat was assassinated by Muslim terrorists, and has held the position since then.

President Mubarak is married to Mrs. Suzanne Thabet and they have two sons, Alaa and Gamal, as well as two grandsons.
