Mandatory overtime

Mandatory overtime is the practice by employers of requiring employees to work more than the ordinarily required number of hours. It saves employers the expense of finding and training new employees when more work is needed. Requiring existing employees to work more and paying them time and a half, as is customary for overtime work, is cheaper than recruiting new employees.

In America, women are exempt from this practice. They cannot be made to work overtime.[Citation Needed]
