The Los Angeles Lakers are a National Basketball Association team based in Los Angeles, California. They were formed in 1944 when the team was started up in Minneapolis. They won five championships from 1947 to 1960. Following that year, they moved to Los Angeles. From there they won nine more championships, second most all time of any team. They have also played in 29 championship series, the most of any franchise.
