Saxon

1. A Saxon was a member of a Germanic tribe living on the North Sea coastline of Germany which in the early medieval period migrated to what later became southern England. They are often also known as 'Anglo-Saxons', as the migration involved three peoples: the Angles, who originated in Schleswig-Holstein in Germany/Denmark, and who settled in what is now northern England and southern Scotland; the Saxons; and the Jutes, from Jutland in modern Denmark, who settled on the south coast of Britain, principally on the Isle of Wight.

2. A Saxon is a modern day German from the Saxony region (Sachsen).
