The GameBoy is a series of portable gaming device developed by Nintendo and the first they developed.

History

The first Gameboy was released in 1989, and it quickly became very popular. It had a black and white screen, and it was about 4'x 7'. Around 1994 the GameBoy Pocket was realesed: roughly 3' x 5'. In 1996, a slighty larger GameBoy Color came, allowing color in a hand-held game system for the first time. About 1999 or 2000 the GameBoy Advance came, with a new shape, better sound and picture, and new games. However it really wasn't that much better and about 2 years later the GameBoy Advanced SP was released. This had an innovative folding design, a quality LCD screen with back light, and a rechargable lithium battery. This was a truly advanced GameBoy. Right now, Nitendo's claim in the portable gaming system market is in the Nintendo DS (2005).
