Date

The term date may refer to any of the following:

A date is a portion of time corresponding to a particular day on a calendar. It can either be listed as a day of the present week; a time relative to the current by a standard unit of chronological measurement; or simply stated absolutely in the form (month) (day of that month), (year). For example, June 11, 2008.

A date is also a fruit of the prune family that grows on palm trees. It is indigenous to the Middle East and Mediterranean regions and enjoys a hot, dry climate. The tree naturally fruits twice a year, though with artificial pollination it can bear fruit year round. The fruit are not picked until they have shrivelled, browned, and sweetened from their plump, green, sour form.

A date can also refer to a social engagement between people, usually two in number.
