The Republic of Kiribati, known commonly as Kiribati, is an island nation in the Pacific Ocean.[1] It is a flat country of 100,000 people lying upon a coral atoll. Kiribati's President Anote Tong has made unscientifically-based claims that his country is gravely in danger of being washed away due to rising sea levels caused by global warming.[2]
