Talk:Line
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Foxtrot (talk | contribs) at 11:48, July 17, 2008. It may differ significantly from current revision.
To do:
Define the following geometrical terms:
They all consist of points, and they are all "straight" (whatever that means).
A line extends infinitely in two opposite directions. A ray has one starting point (end point?) and goes infinitely in one direction. A line segment has two end points; it's the part of the line between the two endpoints.
Help me out here, wordsmiths? --Ed Poor Talk 21:41, 16 July 2008 (EDT)
- Okay, so I agree the simplest definition should be first and in that respect all the philosophical stuff can be pushed to the end, behind a separate section even. However the representations as point-slope and slope-intercept are really basic stuff... like middle school or early high school. They shouldn't be just removed from the article but rather should be the second set of definitions. -Foxtrot 07:48, 17 July 2008 (EDT)
