Jack Lemmon
Jack Lemmon (born February 8, 1925) is an American actor best known for his roles in comedies such as Some Like It Hot, The Out-of-Towners, and Save the Tiger. Although he had other partners â Tony Curtis in Some Like It Hot, Jane Fonda in The China Syndrome â he was recurringly cast opposite Walter Matthau in a long series of movie comedies, starting with The Odd Couple (1968) and continuing for 11 years.
Jack Lemmon's career spanned 5 decades from the late 1940's until his final movie, "The Legend of Bagger Vance" which was completed in 2000, one year before his death. He was always a popular actor and never lost his appeal.
Lemmon was one of the outstanding film actors. He won 2 Academy awards for best actor and was nominated for best actor awards 6 other times. Lemmon is remembered today as one of the best-liked and most sociable actors in the business.
Lemmon died in 2001. His final scene as an actor was a death scene in "The Legend of Bagger Vance" where he died on a golf course, a game that he loved.
