Legolas

Template:Stub Legolas is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth world, appearing as a main character in The Lord of the Rings.

Legolas, son of King Thranduil, was an Elf from Mirkwood. He was initially sent to Rivendell to bring the news that Gollum had escaped from the Mirkwood elves' custody. Legolas joined the Fellowship of the Ring as its only Elven member. After the Breaking of the Fellowship, he went west with Aragorn and Gimli in search of the hobbits Meriadoc Brandybuck and Peregrin Took. He fought at the Battle of Helm's Deep, accompanied Aragorn on the way though the Paths of the Dead, and fought in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields and the Battle of the Morannon. After the War of the Ring, Legolas returned to Gondor with some of his people and founded an Elven colony in Ithilien. After Aragorn's death, Legolas left Middle-earth with Gimli in the year 120 of the Fourth Age.

Adaptions

In Peter Jackson's film adaptations of The Lord of the Rings, Legolas is played by actor Orlando Bloom.
