The New Zealand population survived by growing bananas, coconuts, yams and taro
Where did you get this information from? The New Zealand climate does not support the growth of bananas and coconuts. the staple of Maori agriculture was the kumara (sweet potato). I don't think they had pigs either. Aloysius 08:14, 30 April 2007 (EDT)
End of the Byzantine Empire?
"The end of the Byzantine empire occurred when Mongols invaded in the 13th century, followed by the rise of the Ottoman (Muslim) Turks to power in the 14th century, who replaced the Byzantium empire with their own."
I suspect the fact that the Byzantine Empire came to an end in the 13th century would come as a suprise to those rulers and subjects of the Empire who were still there when Constantinople fell in 1453.BetsyNewson 09:50, 27 August 2008 (EDT)
