Bias

Bias has two meanings.

Electronics

Bias is a DC voltage level added to an AC signal which is to be amplified. This is done to put the AC signal within the amplifying transistors linear operating area.

Social Context

Bias is also the predisposition toward one belief before another. e.g. creating a web based encyclopedia with a conservative bias, like stating that any religious story is true with only shaky evidence to support claims, or making braid generalizations about history in order to justify a faulty argument by making it "sound right."
