The groom, or bridegroom, is the male partner in a marriage ceremony; his female counterpart is his bride.

A groom is also a servant who looks after horses.

The verb to groom means to make a person or animal tidy or neat; it can also mean to train or prepare someone for a role or position ("X is being groomed to become the next Chief Executive").
