Aristide Briand (1862-1932) was a French socialist statesman born in Nantes.[1] He served several times as Prime Minister of France during the turbulent period of governments being voted out of office rather quickly by the French populace. He won a Nobel Peace Prize in 1926. As foreign minister from 1925 to 1932, he co-authored and signed the Kellogg-Briand Pact.
