Jack Kerouac

Jack Kerouac (born Jean-Louis Kerouac March 12, 1922 - died October 21, 1969) was one of America's most well known writers of the 1950s. He wrote such famous books as Big Sur and the classic On the Road.
He is credited with starting the Beat Generation and was friendly with other great writers of the time including Allen Ginsberg, Ken Kesey and Tom Wolfe
He died of complications stemming from a life of alcohol abuse.
