Driving while intoxicated

Driving while intoxicated, or DWI, can be a serious crime that can result in loss of innocent life, imprisonment, loss or suspension of the driver's license and seizure of the automobile by the state. Multiple offenses are particularly serious.
In New York, a repeat offense of DWI (referred to as DUI (Driving Under the Influence) there) is a felony.[1]
