Punk

Punk orinated in the late 1970s in the UK with bands such as the Sex Pistols, The Clash and The Buzzcocks. It quickly spread to the US with True Sounds of Liberty, Society's No Fucking Use and Social Unrest emerging.
Musically, punk is charactarised by fast-paced guitar/bass riffs and quick yet inciteful lyrics. Various methods of dancing to it have emerged, such as skanking and pogo-dancing.
The punk scene is well and truly alive today, with various sub-genres cropping up, including emo, hardcore, psychobilly and pop-punk. Notable current bands include NOFX, Bad Religion, Death By Stereo and Dropkick Murphys.
Some Christians claim punk to have satanic roots, although none of the mainstream bands adhear to such a faith.
