Tommy Douglas

Tommy Douglas was a Canadian Christian Minister and politican. He was a former leader of the NDP and was a strong proponent of universal healthcare. He was recently voted the Greatest Canadian of All Time. Douglas is credited with the implementation of universal health care. Said of Douglas "He pursued his radical ideas relentlessly until they became so mainstream rival politicians claimed them as their own". Douglas also criticized Liberalism. [1]
He is the grandfather of Kiefer Sutherland, star of 24[2].
