An Opiate is an alkaloid that is found in Opium within the Poppy plant. The main Opiates are: Morphine, Codeine, Thebaine and Papaverine.
Opiods are synthetic or semi-synthetic derivatives of the Opiates. Examples are Heroin and Oxycodone.
