The NATO Phonetic Alphabet is a version of the Latin alphabet that assigns words to each letter that start with that letter. It is designed to ensure communication clarity over radio communications. One of the features is that it can be used unambiguously between native speakers of different languages. It has been adopted by a number of international organizations, including the International Civil Aviation Organization.
