Fools Die

Fools Die is a 1978 novel by American writer Mario Puzo. The soft cover edition was published by Signet Nal Penguin Inc.

The novel opens in Las Vegas and follows the struggles of its characters as they grapple with the issues of money, sex, and power in the moral vacuum of post modern society.

A review in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch at the time stated "An epic novel about fame and fortune in contemporary America ... Puzo is a gifted writer...a lusty chronicler of our times whose writing style bulldozes its way through pretense and hypocrisy."

As Las Vegas and the crass materialism it embodies continues to be glorified by popular culture, Mario Puzo's novel is still fresh today. His warning of the allure, but ultimate emptiness and futility of consumption and consumerism is perhaps even more relevant and timely now then when the book was originally published.
