James Monroe

James Monroe, considered by many to be one of the greatest American Presidents, was the 5th president of the United States. He was born in Westmoreland County, Virginia on April 28, 1758. Served as president from 1817-1825. Was Secretary of War under Madison during the war of 1812. Is famous for creating the Monroe Doctrine. He died in July 4, 1831 in New York City. [1]
