Ent

In the Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien, an Ent is an ancient being, immortal, that occupied Middle-Earth at least since the First Age. Ents are "shepherds of trees," caretakers of the forest, and were themselves born of trees, having only been "awoken" by the Elves.
