Landfill

Landfills are organized waste-disposal facilities in which layers of garbage are dumped, often with layers of soil in between, to encourage decomposition of organic waste.
Environmentalists frequently complain about landfills, among other reasons because they do not believe that they facilitate the decomposition of waste, and they advocate composting and recycling as alternatives, as far as organic and recyclable waste is concerned. Conservative critics might also advocate waste incineration, as well excoriating waste in general.
