Cao Cao

Cao Cao was a Chinese warlord during the 1st century. He tried but failed at reuniting China during the civil war that he kinda caused. Though he did fail at reuniting the country he did conquer a huge area that became the kingdom of Wei. Which later after several generations won the civil war.
