Robert II (1371-1390), also known as Robert the Steward, was the first Stewart king of Scotland. He was French in descent, but had little or no ties to the country.Robert married twice, and had children in both marriages, this led to problems further down the stewatr line.
Robert II spent the first 18 years of his reign as a prisoner in England. Robert made little or no changes to Scottish politics or law and he died peacefully in 1390.
