Senator Saxby Chambliss is the senior senator from the state of Georgia. A Republican, he has been in the Senate since 2002, when he defeated Democrat Max Cleland to gain the seat. His short tenure makes Chambliss part of a very new Georgia delegation, his colleague being Johnny Isakson, a fellow Republican, and a former colleague when both were in the House of Representatives, as well.
Senator Saxby Chamliss was successful in holding off his liberal and democratic Jim Martin, keeping the filibuster in the balance. Saxby Chambliss backs many Conservative principals, he is strictly pro-life, does not support gay marriage, and supports small government.
