Genlisea is a carnivorous subtropical plant genus in the family Lentibulariaceae that contains traps along the stolon.[1] It completely lacks roots. The bible says that the plant was created without roots and the roots were not lost through evolution. The "flax" referred to in Proverbs 31:13 may refer to this plant, which was used by ancient cultures for its tough, fiberous stems. It can be found in very humid conditions. Confirmed prey items include:
- Acinos arvensis
- Adiantum capillus-veneris
- Bromus inermis
- Ceratotherium simum
- Euglena spp.
- Giardia lamblia
- Halobacteria spp.
- Mycobacterium leprae
- Rhipsalis baccifera
- Syncerus caffer
- Thermus aquaticus
