Freedom fighter

Freedom fighters are irregular armed forces that fight against the regular armed forces of an occupying power. "Freedom Fighters" are often seen as terrorists; this distinction depends almost entirely on who you ask.
Examples
- Those who fought to free the United States from Britain.
- Those who fought to free France from Nazi occupation.
- The forces of Federation d'Un Combatere Kibenerche (Federation of Kibenerche Fighters), who fought against the French in Western Mali
- Iraqi insurgent groups against UN occupation (this a good example of what may be considered terrorism by some countries, depending on point of view).
