Gordon Brown is the Chancellor of the Exchequer of the United Kingdom and is expected to take over as Prime Minister when Tony Blair steps down, which he is expected to do in the summer of 2007.
Gordon Brown is a member of Britain's Labour Party and has been Chancellor since 1997, making him one of the longest serving Chancellors in history. He is known for his fiscal probity and his devotion to Kilmarnock Football Club. The unprecedented period of economic growth and low inflation over which he has presided is considered to be one of the key factors that has enabled the Labour Party to remain in power since 1897.
