In Greek mythology, Talos was a bronze man whom Zeus gave to Europa to guard Crete. He had a single vein from his neck to his ankle with an bronze nail on its end.

When the Argonauts came near Crete, he threatened their ship by throwing it with rocks. Medea tricked him into grzing his ankle on a rock, opening the vein and causing the ichor inside to flow out which caused his death.
